CORES DO SAMBA
BRAZILIAN MUSIC PROJECT IN CAMBRIDGE
Cores do Samba collective is a group of musicians from Cambridge and beyond who love to explore the popular music for Brazil known as ‘MPB’. The band is led by Brazilian vocalist Caru Lins and joined by experienced Jazz musicians. Featuring in out set are arrangements by Gilberto GIl, Chico Buarque, Tom Jobim, Baden Powell, Djavan, Joyce, Joao Donato and more. We play in different set ups from trio to septet.
Cores do Samba takes you on a musical tour from the Samba of Rio de Janeiro to the Bossa for the beaches to the Afoxe of Salvador da Bahia to the Cuban influence of West Brazil. This music is rhythmic and uplifting. Prepare to be swept up in the unforgettable rhythms and melodies of Brazil!
Playing to sold out audiences Cores do Samba have put Brazilian music firmly on the map in Cambridge. We have played for the Cambridge International Jazz Festival, Cambridge Summer Music Festival at the Botanic Gardens, The National Trust, The Gonville Hotel dinner concert events, and as Trio for Rep Music, as well as a host of other private and corporate events.
We are suitable for many different types of events and appeal to all ages.
“Reproducing with good quality the music of Brazil. Good to kill the longing of home!”
